The secretary general

The secretary general assists the President of Parliament and the Bureau. He coordinates the work of the administrative services.

The specific tasks of the secretary general are laid down in the house rules:

  • The secretary general writes down the Parliament's decisions.
  • He takes the minutes of plenary sessions and Bureau meetings.
  • Together with the President, he signs every decision taken by Parliament or the Bureau.
  • He makes sure that Parliament's decisions are implemented.
  • He keeps the parliamentary archives in a safe place.
  • On behalf of the Bureau, he exercises supervision over all the services of Parliament and its staff.
